New York's new Architectural Masterpiece of Transportation
Completed in 2016, this architectural wonder is the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub. It is the most integrated underground pedestrian network in New York City.
Serving over 250,000 commuters each day, the Oculus (topmost picture shown) connects 11 New York City MTA subway lines, PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) train system, the Battery Park City Ferry Terminal, World Trade Center Towers 1, 2, 3 and 4, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, and Brookfield Place (formerly known as the World Financial Center) which houses the Winter Garden.
The Transportation Hub’s Oculus serves as the centerpiece for the entire complex, which contains hundreds of thousands of square feet of state-of-the-art retail and dining spaces.
Post Road Iron Works fabricated and installed the hundreds of thousands of running feet of elegant, state-of-the-art stainless steel and glass staircase railings, balcony railings, stair safety railings, metal pan stairs, pedestrian gates, safety banisters, supports and protection barriers that serve the entire facility. Post Road Iron Works also fabricated and installed the stairs and fire stairs throughout the complex.
